Business attire for a work-at-home dad

"What should I wear to work today?" A common question.  It's important to look nice on the job, impress the clients. The boss.

Ever wonder what a work-at-home dad wears to work?

Well..often, this is it:

Yeah, it's a nice perk when owning your own business.

But the times you have to dress up in order to impress business associates, say, for a networking meeting for some of the top businesses in your county...well, for those times, dressing to impress is an absolute must!

Last night, though, my wonderful husband had a little crisis in the business attire department.

As you all know, we have three lovely children...but, alas, these three lovely kids were not invited to the big important business meeting.  Childcare for 3 kids under the age of three can be complicated, but we are sooo blessed to have family that love to take our children for the night!  Well, we were running a bit late for the meeting after dropping the older munchkins off with my parents and the newest munchkin off with Stephen's parents.

Finally, we were all dolled up in our business attire and ready to go! (I thought we looked pretty good!) After making a few wrong turns, we finally made it to the meeting a bit later than we'd planned. We hurriedly got out of the car, and started walking up to the door when...

Stephen stopped and looked at me.  I turned around quite annoyed that we were already late and he was just standing there!  He looked down, and then I realized...

He wasn't wearing his nice business shoes...he still had his slippers on!!

What really gets me is that after laughing about it, he looked at me and asked (no joke!), "Do you think people will notice?"

...seriously???

Yet, I actually thought about it for a moment! Ha!

We eventually did make it to our meeting, albeit much later than we wanted and after a 20 min detour back home to ditch the slippers!  But in the end, I think we had a successful night!

Note to self: Keep an extra set of business shoes in the car in case of emergency!

Do any of you have a story like this? Say, a one blue sock, one black, kind of story?

  1. That is too funny! I once went to Zumba with my crocs on...not conducive for exercising. :)

    1. Haha! No, I'd guess not, unless you're willing to risk a broken ankle! :)

  2. I went to work one day wearing my son's slacks. Not that anyone would have known. :)
Unfortunately, my waistline has gotten to the point where I would never be able to make that mistake again!
